Ask (into to variables)

The Ask block is a very important block.  This block will introduce you to variables one of the most important concepts in computer science, language, and life!  You use them all the time and don’t even realize it.  Your name is a variable.  For instance you could have been called anything but when I say your name you know who you are.  Well it is the same of computer variables.

So how is this very special block used?  Lets find out.

1. create a new scratch project

2. click on the Screen Shot 2014-08-07 at 11.01.44 AM block and see what happens.  It asks “what is your name?  and it waits for you to answer.

3. What ever you type in their will now be used every time you see the Screen Shot 2014-08-07 at 11.10.55 AM block to make this more obvious I like to click on the check box in front of the Screen Shot 2014-08-07 at 11.12.25 AM and now I can see Screen Shot 2014-08-07 at 11.16.02 AM

 

4.  So until it changes every time I seeScreen Shot 2014-08-07 at 11.10.55 AM I have to think in my mind
